Bridge of Friendship: Boris Klementiev

The National Gallery of Armenia presents the exhibition “Bridge of Friendship: Boris Klementiev”.
Today Klementiev’s creations with a wide range of genre and theme and rich technical performing means include hundreds of art canvases, small etudes, watercolor paintings and charts, graphic papers made of pastel as well as samples of monumental paintings and interior decor, etc. 
At present the painter has his own style and identity shaped under the outstanding Russian artists at the Russian Academy of painting, sculpture and architecture though being well aware of the leading trends of the time, directions, schools of painting and masterpieces.
He has his peculiar manner of perceiving and combining the principles of Russian realism and the achievements of Western European impressionism, a new interpretation of the 19th century traditions of Russian lyrical school and the previous epoch for which he has intentionally chosen the realistic way of art. Klementiev is known as the author of impressionistic landscapes, master of classic portraits inspired by Russian and European realistic school, expert of historical still life. His creations are peculiar for their variety and richness of subjects and themes. The artist highlights the importance of religious themes taking belief as the basis of human existence and living.
The exhibition embraces 25 years of Klementiev՛s creation revealing the real evolution of the artist՛s searches and dynamics of creation. The artist appears with his unique principle of synthesizing and adapting realism with contemporary western stylistic methods. He has highlighted his acute inner-vision  by diverse expressive means, his own imagination and based-on-personal-feelings emotion, the spiritual perception and transmission of life and the world. His works deeply influence the observer by the artist’s modern thinking and mode of performance combined with the realistic-observational, contemplative-lyrical manner.
The axis of the exhibition is the Russian way of life and paintings of contemporaries, pastel drawings peculiar for their velvet surface and softness of colours.
The exposition houses more than 60 paintings and pastel-and-pencil graphic papers as well as sketch albums and archive materials.
